Your text is not stored
The text you paste, or the text extracted from the page you enter, is sent to our server, checked in memory, then discarded. It is not written to any file or database, and it is not used to train any model. Once the corrections are displayed, nothing of it remains on the server.
The corrections you apply afterwards happen in your browser. If you close the tab without copying your text, it is lost.
No outside service for checking
Our grammar checker, LanguageTool, runs on our own server. The text you check is not sent to any third party API, unlike many online tools that pass it on to an outside provider.
The case of text rewriting
The rewriting tool works differently, because rewriting requires a language model. The text you paste there is sent to 1avance, the AI assistant published by the same team as jeverifie.com. 1avance passes it to a language model hosted by a specialized provider, chosen automatically among several providers through the OpenRouter service. These providers may be located outside Canada and the European Union, and apply their own data processing rules.
On our side, neither jeverifie.com nor 1avance stores the rewritten text or the original text: they stay in memory for the time needed to rewrite and proofread them, then are discarded. Only the processing time and whether it succeeded are recorded, without the text. If your text contains sensitive or confidential information, do not use it with the rewriting tool: the grammar checker, on the other hand, stays entirely on our server.
What is kept, and why
To limit the amount of checking per visitor and keep the service from being overloaded, we temporarily record a fingerprint of your IP address combined with the current hour, along with the number of characters, pages and rewrites processed. This fingerprint is a one way calculation: it cannot be used to recover your address. It is deleted automatically after two hours.
Like any web server, ours keeps technical connection logs for a limited time, for security and troubleshooting. These logs do not contain the checked text.
Where processing takes place
Checking is done on a server located in Quebec, Canada. Canada benefits from an adequacy decision of the European Commission, which recognizes a level of data protection equivalent to that of the European Union.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not sell any data.
It uses Google Analytics to measure traffic: number of visitors, pages viewed, where visits come from. This tool sets cookies and sends browsing data to Google. It never receives the text you check. Google AdSense ads may also be displayed, with their own cookies.
You can opt out by installing the opt-out add-on offered by Google, or by using a tracker blocker. The checker works exactly the same either way.
Your rights
Since no identifiable personal data is kept, there is in practice nothing to access, correct or delete. For any question, write to contact@jeverifie.com.
